Rebuilding API docs that developers actually use
The challenge
Stackflow's API documentation had grown organically over three years — inconsistent structure, outdated examples, and no clear entry point for new integrators. Developer onboarding was taking weeks.
Our approach
We audited the existing docs, interviewed the engineering team, and rebuilt the reference documentation from scratch using a topic-based structure. We introduced a getting-started guide, standardised code samples across five languages, and wrote a documentation style guide for the internal team.
The outcome
Developer onboarding time dropped by 40%. Support tickets related to integration questions fell by over a third in the first quarter after launch.
